7. Store Items Of The Same Category Together

This tip makes sense for several reasons. First of all, it would be much easier for you to find a certain type of product (such as shoes) if you store them in the same place. You will save a lot of time too because you know where to go if you need to find a certain item.

Secondly, this will also save space because you eliminate the gaps that are created when you have boxes of different sizes placed next to each other.

8. Try To Utilize The Vertical Space Above Entry Points

Most warehouse owners place boxes and containers directly next to walls and this is a good thing. The only place where you cannot possibly stack boxes is in front of an entrance door because you block the way. However, this doesn’t mean that you cannot utilize the place above the door.

For example, you could install some heavy-duty, stainless steel shelving units that can hold a lot of weight. Then you can use a ladder and place a lot of boxes on these shelvings, directly above the entrance door.

You can still get in and out of the warehouse with ease, but you also utilize all the vertical space in your storage area. Just make sure that you add strong shelving units and you fix them properly in the wall, to avoid injuries when people get in and out of the warehouse.
